Getting Started in Adobe InDesign
For the next 3 assignments, create a folder to save all your files in. This is what you will turn in. When you have finished, you will label the folder as LastName + FirstName + Period + Intro to InDesign and turn it in both when you are finished.
Manage Colors
Down the Managing Colors Worksheet and read How to Manage Colors found the right and create the list below. Use Ctrl + Shift + 4 to take a screen shot to show me what you have done. When you have finished, you will save it as an .indd and a .pdf file, saving the files as LastName + FirstName + Period + Manage Colors and add it to your folder.
Document Setup Read How to setup a document. You will use this guide to help you create a new document. Follow the guides exact directions to achieve a document that looks like Figure 11. Envelopes Read How to Use Ruler Grids and Guides to add guides for you to use on the envelop. Add a grid for the address, stamp, and return address. Make sure you are using proper alignment. Then add text boxes for the address and return address. Make up any address to fill the boxes. Chose a new font and adjust the spacing of your characters and lines so that it looks correct. |

Using Text in InDesign

Creating Layouts in InDesign:
Mini Yearbook Page
Frames & Object Styles: Follow the guides found here: How to work with Graphic Frames, How to use Object Styles, and How to Place Images. to complete the ID Frames and Objects Worksheet on the Right. You will use these skills to then to create a Mini Yearbook layout in InDesign that includes what is listed below. Download the folder of Yearbook images, you will not have to use all of these. Your page should not only have a clean and organized layout, but good design as well. Remember that a Yearbook page should utilize the ENTIRE page, leaving no blank spaces and going all the way to the edge of the page. When you have finished, you will save it as an .indd and a .pdf file, saving the files as LastName + FirstName + Period + MiniYearbook and turn in both Scales via AirDrop when you are finished. Text in InDesign: You will need to read and follow all the guides found here. These will be used to do the activity. If you don't read them, you will not be able to complete this activity! You will need to find 2 recipes to create a cookbook spread with, it doesn't matter what the recipes are. Start a new document, regular paper size with 2 facing pages. Book Jacket
You have been given a reprint of a book to design a book cover for. You will be creating the front, the back, the spine, and the inside flaps for this novel redesign. You will be picking a book that already exists, BUT your cover can NOT look anything like designs that have been done before. You will need to include the following in your design:
